House passes 'No Budget, No Pay' bill
Senators and Congressmen wouldn't get paid if they don't pass a budget on time, under a proposal passed yesterday by the House of Representatives.
Congressman Reid Ribble is the lead Republican sponsor of the bill. The Sherwood Republican says passing a budget is a federal lawmaker's most important task, and he hopes financial motivation will convince both parties to get to work.
Ribble says the bill has bipartisan support and he's optimistic that the Senate will also pass it.
The Senate hasn't passed a budget in four years, and Ribble says Senators would start missing paychecks if they don't pass a budget by April 15.
He says Congressmen would face the same penalty if they don't approve a spending plan by then.
