Snow leads to crashes on stretch of Hwy. 41
The snow led to a number of crashes in the Fox Valley during the morning commute, especially on one stretch of Highway 41 South.
Lt. Steve Verweil of the Winnebago County sheriff's department says there were multiple accidents around the Highway 10-441 interchange, and they stretched as far south as Winchester Road. He says some of them were chain-reaction crashes, but they also had to deal with vehicles that went into the ditch.
The State Patrol says one of the chain-reaction crashes involved two cars and a semi. They say a driver lost control, hit the median wall, and then bounced into the path of a semi. The car then collided with another car. Two people were taken to Theda Clark Medical Center, with non life-threatening injuries.
A sergeant from the State Patrol says the number of accidents along Highway 41 wasn't out of the ordinary, for a snowy day.
