Appleton Library circulation down slightly
The head of Appleton's Public Library says the improving economy was a likely factor in a slight decrease in circulation last year.
People checked out nearly one-point-four-two million items in 2012, and that's down four percent.
Director Colleen Rortvedt says it seems like the totals ebb and flow, with the health of the economy. She says they did see a big jump in E-Book use, to nearly 20,000. That's almost four times as much as in 2011.
Rortvedt says she's pleased to see increases in attendance at programs for teens and adults. Attendance at children's programs was down 12 percent, but Rortvedt says they couldn't offer as many events, because they were short-staffed for almost half of the year.
