Agency warns about online security
Consumer protection officials are calling today "data privacy day," and they're reminding people to do what they can to be safe from identity thieves.
Sandy Chalmers is the administrator of Wisconsin's consumer protection department. She recommends using a long, complex password for your e-mail. She says people should also have different passwords for different accounts.
Chalmers says almost everyone is a potential target for online identity thieves, but there are ways to minimize your risk.
Chalmers says most identity theft victims spend at least $300, and 12 hours, repairing the damage.
