Norovirus impacting Fox Valley
A "stomach bug" is making people sick all over the country, and the Fox Valley is not immune.
Appleton public health officer Kurt Eggebrecht says a new strain of the norovirus is making the rounds this winter, and it's very contagious. He says the disease causes severe cramping, diarrhea, and vomiting.
Eggebrecht says he's heard of several cases in the Appleton area, but so far there haven't been any major outbreaks.
Eggebrecht says symptoms of the disease usually pass in a day or two, but people in the food service industry should stay home longer, even if they feel healthy.
Eggebrecht says norovirus is the most common cause of food poisoning.
