Hansen to push for redistricting change
A lawmaker from Green Bay wants to change the way
the state redraws its political boundaries.
Democratic Sen. Dave Hansen says the Legislative Reference Bureau should do the job, instead of Legislature. He says the agency is nonpartisan, and it wouldn't use the process to gain a political advantage.
Hansen says Republicans in the Senate and Assembly did that in 2011, and lawsuits over the matter are still making their way through the court system.
He says Republican senators seem hesitant to back his proposal. Hansen says by making the change now, most of the lawmakers who vote on it won't still be in office when it's time to redraw the political lines again, in 2020.
