Wave of foundation grants total $3 mil
Groups in the area received $3 million in grants over the last three months of last year, through funds that are within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.
Spokeswoman Tammy Williams says some of that money will help train primary care doctors on how to treat basic mental health issues. She says they're trying to deal with a shortage of local psychiatrists.
Nearly $15,000 in grants will help cover nine training sessions. The Community Health Action Team already contributed $50,000 toward the effort.
About half of the $3 million in grants went to groups that work in the human services and education areas.
