High court won't hear Callan case

The state Supreme Court won't take up the case of a former Appleton elementary school teacher who is serving a 17-year prison sentence for molesting a student.

An appeals court upheld Daniel Callan's conviction last August.

The now 30-year-old Callan was a fifth-grade teacher at St. Bernadette elementary, in 2008. He was accused of inappropriately touching a 10-year-old boy, and he was convicted of child enticement.

Callan argued that his sentence was too harsh, and that police should have read him his Miranda rights during an interview.
