Refinery issues, oil, fueling higher gas prices
Gas prices are about $0.20 higher than they were just two weeks ago in the Fox Valley, and there are a couple of culprits.
Pam Moen of AAA Wisconsin says crude oil is up about $10 from the beginning of the year, mainly because of good economic news in the U.S.
She says about 10 oil refineries are also down for maintenance, including two in Illinois that provide gas to Wisconsin. Moen says oil prices could stay higher for a while, but the refinery issues will pass.
Moen says it's not clear how soon prices might come back down.
Gas is selling for about $3.38 a gallon in Appleton. The national average is $3.39.
