IRS now accepting most tax returns
The IRS officially started the tax season yesterday, when it began accepting returns from the majority of taxpayers.
Spokesman Christopher Miller says they had to wait about a week longer than normal this year because the agency had to adjust to changes that were made in the fiscal cliff bill.
Miller says some will have to hold off a while longer to file. He says taxpayers claiming education credits have to wait until mid-February. He says it could take until early March for the IRS to prepare for depreciation deductions, energy credits, and many business credits.
He says that process can take a while to complete.
