Hortonville schools put referendum on ballot
There's going to be a building referendum on the April ballot, in the Hortonville school district.
The plans include a new K-4 elementary school, at the corner of Highways 76 and JJ. The district already owns the land, and wants to build a new transportation facility there as well.
The nearly $25.5 million package also includes expansions at the middle and high schools, and security upgrades at all schools.
A second referendum question asks to exceed the state-imposed revenue caps by $370,000 a year, for utility and maintenance costs at the new elementary school.
If voters say "yes" to both, the property tax rate would increase by 42 cents per $1,000 of value. That's an additional $42 a year, for the owner of a $100,000 home.
