State Dems unveil job bills

Pointing to the state's poor ranking on job creation, Minority Democrats in the Legislature say they have a series of proposals that would put people to work.

Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca says they want to give technical colleges flexible funding, and help small business get access to capital. The plans also call for giving American companies a preference.

Democrats would need the support at least some Republicans, and Barca says if GOP leaders are really serious about creating 250,000 jobs, they'll at least consider the proposals.

The latest government totals show Wisconsin is ranked 42nd in the country, in private sector job growth.
