Museum's da Vinci exhibit sets records

An exhibit in downtown Appleton drew record crowds to the History Museum at the Castle.

Executive director Terry Bergen says they had plenty of big days, before "Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion" closed yesterday.

She says most of the visitors actually came from outside the area, and they ate at restaurants and stayed in hotels. But she says about 4,000 students from around the area also saw the exhibit.

She says when the final numbers are in, they believe they'll reach their goal of 20,000 visitors.

The exhibit featured 40 machines that were built, using da Vinci's designs. It's now headed for a museum in Florida.
