Parents weigh in on Catholic school plan
About 300 parents of students in Appleton Catholic schools asked questions and raised concerns about consolidation plans last night.
The St. Francis Xavier system plans to close the St. Bernadette and Catholic Central elementary schools in the fall of 2014. St. Pius and St. Thomas More would remain open, as the two campuses of the renamed St. Francis Xavier elementary.
Brian Wallace is a parent, and he says he understands administrators are making the tough decisions, to strengthen the system's financial future.
Deacon Ray DuBois is the system president, and he says he'll hold two more similar meetings, one each at Catholic Central and St. Bernadette. He says there are the gamut of feelings from people, about moving forward, and it's important to listen.
The school system's board of directors unanimously approved the proposal last week.
