Fans salute Driver in retirement ceremony
Packers receiver Donald Driver officially announced his retirement
from the NFL this morning, and about 1,000 fans were on hand to witness the event.
During a 45-minute ceremony in the Lambeau Field atrium, Driver thanked the fans, his family, and others who helped make his career possible.
Packers Coach Mike McCarthy, general manager Ted Thompson, and president Mark Murphy also talked about what Driver means to the organization.
Driver said he feels like he can still play in the NFL, but he owes it to the fans to retire as a Packer. Many fans say that kind of gesture is just another example of his good character.
Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt announced that a statue outside of the Titletown Brewing Company will be refurbished in Driver's honor, and he'll have a nearby street named after him.
Governor Walker announced that today is Donald Driver Day.
