NAMI encouraged by budget proposal
A local mental health advocate says additional funding in the state budget would help expand programs in the our area.
Governor Walker announced yesterday that he'll put an extra $30 million in his proposed budget, to expand mental health programs across the state.
NAMI Fox Valley program director Karen Schiller says she supports the plans to open an Office of Children's Mental Health, and improve in-home counseling for children.
She says many programs in our area try to provide that kind of care, and the extra money will help.
Schiller says she wishes the the governor's proposal included a plan to help people get faster access to a counselor, in non-crisis situations.
