CVB: Local tourism industry is healthy
The tourism industry is stabilizing in the Fox Cities. That's according to the leader of the local convention and visitors bureau.
Executive director Pam Seidl says hotel occupancy rates have been steady for the last few years, but the trends were different in 2012. She says they had fewer large events in the area, but they made up for it because they had more typical bookings.
The bureau held its annual tourism breakfast this morning, at the Holiday Inn in Grand Chute, and handed out several awards. The Convention Award went to Kevin Jarek of the UW-Extension, for his work on the Outagamie County Farm Technology Days. Cheryl Zaug Casey was the volunteer of the year.
The History Museum at the Castle received the Partnership Award, and Gary Kilgas won the Destination Builder Award for his work on the NCAA Division 3 baseball tournament.
