Oshkosh area CEOs predict gains in 2013
Oshkosh area business leaders expect to pad their bottom line in 2013, but that may not lead to a lot of new jobs.
A survey released today by the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce shows optimism for the year. John Casper is the chamber president. He says the study shows that just over two-thirds of the CEOs think sales revenue in 2013 will exceed 2012 levels.
The study also shows about one-third of the CEOs plan to add employees this year, 55 percent plan to hold steady, and eight percent plan to make cuts. Casper says the recession helped many businesses learn how to do more, with fewer workers.
The report also shows that business leaders are concerned about increases in health care costs, and some of them may be passed on to employees, through higher deductibles, higher premiums, or by using health savings accounts.
Casper thinks many employers may try to encourage their workers to get health insurance through the state's health insurance exchange, once it's available.
