Harrison holding incorporation meeting
Voters in the town of Harrison will decide next week, whether a portion of the town should become a village, and tonight officials are answering questions about the referendum.
Travis Parish is the town's administrator. He says many people are concerned that taxes in the new village would increase. He says that would only happen if they also increase services, and he doesn't anticipate that happening. Parish says taxes in the town have been going up because communities like Appleton are annexing valuable parts of its tax base.
He says becoming a village would protect the borders.
Parish says only people in the area that would become a village will be allowed to vote in the referendum.
Tonight's meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Harrison town hall.
