Gov. Walker declines Medicaid expansion
Governor Walker says he'll cut the number of people in Wisconsin without health insurance nearly in half, without
accepting a Medicaid expansion under the health care reform law.
Walker made the announcement this afternoon.
His plan retains Medicaid programs for people who are living below the poverty level, and includes subsidies for people making up to four-times that level to buy health insurance, through a health insurance exchange.
The governor says it will encourage people to empower themselves instead of relying on a government handout.
