Walker to invest in cancer treatment
Governor Walker wants to invest more money in
cancer research and treatment.
He announced in Green Bay this morning that he'll put $3.75 million in his proposed budget, for the Wisconsin Oncology Network. 20 sites around the state are part of the network, including providers in Appleton and Green Bay.
Walker says the funding would help develop cutting-edge molecular imaging technology, and increase access to it.
The UW-Madison Carbone Cancer Center runs the network.
Walker says hopefully the state's investment will encourage the private sector to contribute as well.
Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology in Appleton, along with St. Vincent Hospital, Aurora Health Care, and Bellin Health in Green Bay are a part of the network.
