Missing Appleton man found in Milwaukee Co.

Appleton police are closing a missing person case.

Sgt. Dave Lund says a 59-year-old man with dementia walked away from an assisted living facility on the city's northside last night. He says sheriff's deputies in Milwaukee County found Michael Schram, around 10:30 a.m., hitchhiking along a freeway there.

Lund says they believe Schram hitched a ride to the Milwaukee area. He says the department received a couple of calls this morning from people who thought they saw Schram in the area around Highway 41 and Richmond Street.

Schram lives in a facility on N. Meade Street, and Lund says police reached out to people in that area, using their phone notification system.

Schram says they also contacted 24-hour businesses, because they were concerned about Schram staying outside all night, in the cold weather.
