G.C. reaches SWAT deal with Outagamie Co.

It didn't take long for Grand Chute to come up with a new agreement for SWAT team service in the town.

Appleton officials ended a year-old deal with Grand Chute late last year, citing philosophical differences, but officials from the town and Outagamie County recently finalized their own contract.

Grand Chute police chief Greg Peterson says the town will have three officers on the SWAT team.

He says when there's an incident in the town, a Grand Chute official will be the incident commander, and a member of the sheriff's department will be the SWAT commander. That was one of the sticking points with the city.

Peterson says the sheriff's department would respond to a SWAT incident in the town without the contract, but he wanted to have a more formal agreement in place.
