Work continues on Appleton city pay plan
There's still more work to do on a proposed
pay plan for Appleton city employees.
The city council made some changes last night, but sent it back to the human resources committee.
Ald. Curt Konetzke is the chair of the panel, and he says they set the top and bottom wages, but they need to finalize the in-between steps on the scale.
Konetzke says they're going to have to do some behind-the-scenes work in the coming days. He says council members and department heads will be involved, but he hopes some employees will too.
The city hired a consultant last year to come up with different options for a pay plan, and council members have been debating them for a few months.
The new scale will impact workers who used to be union members, before the state's collective bargaining law took effect.
