Lawmakers react to budget proposal
Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are calling for some changes to the budget plan unveiled last night by Governor Walker.
Democratic Sen. Dave Hansen of Green Bay wants to do away with the proposed school voucher expansion. He's also critical of plans to sell the state's power plants, and refuse a federally funded Medicaid expansion. Hansen says the governor's budget would also hurt the state's financial standing.
Republican Rep. Dean Kaufert of Neenah says he supports the governor's middle class income tax cut, but he questions a freeze in per-pupil public school spending, and an expansion of the school voucher program. He says many GOP lawmakers have concerns.
Kaufert says his biggest concern is the structural deficit.
