Appleton police weigh in on 'OWI Hunter'
A man is providing Appleton police with another set of eyes on the road, looking for drunk drivers on the weekends, and so far, his work has been a success. That's the feeling of Capt. Todd Freeman.
The Fox Valley man's first name is Brad, and he calls himself the "OWI Hunter." He says he watches people walk to their cars, or follows drivers to see if they're swerving. Over the last year or so, he's helped police make more than 40 arrests.
Freeman says they've worked with him, to make sure his actions are legal, and that he's not putting himself, or others, in danger. He says what the man is doing isn't something that police would outright encourage.
Freeman says it's not uncommon for drivers to call police, if they think another person is breaking a law. But Freeman says they haven't seen anyone else like the "OWI Hunter."
The man has his own Facebook page, and he uses a video camera on his dashboard to record other drivers. He's posted some of the videos on You Tube.
