Ribble hopes for quick action on fix
A local lawmaker says Congress needs to act fast, to give federal
department heads some flexibility, if they have to make $85 billion in sequestration cuts.
Congressman Reid Ribble introduced a proposal on Monday, to let department leaders use their discretion to eliminate waste, and preserve important programs.
Ribble says the bill needs to pass within two weeks. The Sherwood Republican says it could be attached to a measure that will continue to fund overall government operations.
Ribble says once the sequestration deadline passes on Friday, people would start noticing the cuts in 30 to 60 days.
