Jackson murder trial scheduled for Sept.

An Appleton woman could stand trial in September,

on charges that faces she killed her longtime boyfriend.

35-year-old Mastella Jackson appeared in Outagamie County court yesterday, and a judge tentatively scheduled her trial on a charge of first-degree intentional homicide.

Prosecutors accuse Jackson of stabbing 41-year-old Derrick Whitlow, 25 times, at the Road Star Inn in Grand Chute, in February of last year. They say Jackson admitted attacking Whitlow, because she was upset with him for destroying some family items at her Appleton home. Investigators say they found bloody clothes and a knife in a garbage can at her house.

Jackson also faces a traffic ticket for breaking Whitlow's leg a month earlier, when she hit him with her car, while he crossed an Appleton street. Authorities initially believed that case was accidental.
