Consumer agency warns about tax filing scam
State consumer protection officials are getting some complaints about a tax return scam.
Agency spokesman Jared Albrecht says identity thieves sometimes file false returns, in hopes of getting money, before a person files their real return.
Albrecht says it's an issue that's been popping up around the country over the last few years. The agency is recommending that people use reputable tax preparation services, if they don't file their own taxes.
