Fire damages Kaukauna home
Kaukauna firefighters were able to contain a fire
to the back of a house yesterday afternoon.
Crews were called to the home in the 100 block of Island Street, around 2:30 p.m.
Lt. Travis Teesch says the fire started in the basement, and there is smoke damage throughout the house. He says the fire damage was limited to the basement and first floor. Teesch says a damage estimate isn't available yet, and they're looking for the cause.
He says they had to cut holes into some exterior walls, to make sure the fire didn't spread into the attic.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and there are no reports of injuries. Firefighters rescued four pets.
