Poll shows split on gun law changes
When Congress eventually takes up a gun control law, feelings on the issue will likely be evenly split in the Badger State.
That's the finding of a poll conducted by the St. Norbert College Survey Center, for the Wisconsin Professional Police Association.
Association executive director Jim Palmer says 47 percent support stricter laws, while 43 percent want them to stay the way they are. That's within the poll's margin of error. The survey also found that 8 percent want to relax gun laws.
Another poll, from the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns, focused on the sixth and eighth congressional districts. It found that more than 80 percent support requiring background checks for all gun purchases.
