New housing starts on the rise
New housing starts are climbing in Wisconsin's metro areas.
Building permits rose 19-1/2 percent in February.
Heidi Zich of Valley Home Builders Association says that's consistent with what they're hearing. She says they had 22 housing starts in the Fox Valley in January, compared to 15 in 2012.
Zich says attractive interest rates and other factors are encouraging people to build. She says they include increased job security, and the willingness of banks to lend more money.
A statewide survey shows 40 building permits were issued in the Fox Valley last month. That's up from 37, in February of 2012.
