Bond set at $75K in Appleton attack

A 23-year-old Menasha man is in custody on a $75,000 bond for a random attack in downtown Appleton.

Perry Hulbert made an initial court appearance in Outagamie County court this morning. He's accused of beating, raping, and robbing a woman, in the 300 block of N. Appleton Street, early yesterday morning.

Prosecutor Alexander Duros says Hulbert could face up to 67 years in prison, if he's convicted of a series of charges. He says Hulbert threatened to kill the woman, if she didn't shut up.

Duros asked for a $50,000 bond, but Court Commissioner Brian Figy went beyond that.

Hulbert is accused of running off, with the victim's purse, after someone drove into the parking lot. Court records say police found the woman's wallet, in a car that Hulbert had been riding in, at the time he was arrested.
