Appleton police want crime scene van
Appleton police want a new crime
scene vehicle.
Deputy Chief Todd Olm says they've had to use a temporary van, after their regular vehicle broke down in 2010.
He says the van was too big to fit in the garage at the police station, so they stopped using it last year. He says they can't keep a crime scene vehicle outside, in the winter, because some of their supplies froze.
Olm says a detective-lieutenant found a used crime scene van online, for about $17,000. He says a new one would cost about $60,000.
The city council has to sign off on the proposal.
