DOT app aims to reduce drunk driving
There's a new app for smartphones that authorities
hope will reduce the number of drunk drivers.
The state department of transportation developed the Drive Sober app.
Spokesman Steve Olson says one of the features is a designated driver selector that randomly picks one person in a group to handle the job.
It also includes a blood-alcohol level estimator that's based on a person's weight, and how many drinks they've had. Olson warns that there are a number of other factors involved, so that feature is only an estimate.
People can also use the app to find alternate transportation options in their area.
