Schmitt backs historic tax credit bill

A proposal is intended to promote the redevelopment of historical buildings in the state.

A bill from Republican Rep. Chad Weininger of Green Bay would increase tax incentives for developers from five percent to 20 percent.

Mayor Jim Schmitt says his city would benefit, because there are a number of buildings in Green Bay, especially in the downtown, that need renovations.

Schmitt believes the bill will have widespread support because it would help spur economic development, and create jobs. He highlighted the possibilities for the Hotel Northland, during a press conference this morning.
