Candidate denies blacklisting reporters

A candidate for state superintendent of schools is denying that he's trying to blacklist five reporters.

A memo from a former staffer contradicts the claim from Rep. Don Pridemore of Hartford. He's challenging incumbent superintendent Tony Evers.

Pridemore says the staffer misunderstood his comments about reporters from the Associated Press, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and The Capitol Times in Madison. He says he wanted to deal directly with them.

The staffer says Pridemore told him directly not to grant interviews to the reporters.
