Walker touts school vouchers in G.B.
The debate over school vouchers is heating up
in Green Bay again.
Governor Walker took part in an event last night, at St. Thomas More Catholic school. He wants to expand the taxpayer-funded choice program to districts that have at least two schools that received "D's" or "F's" on the state's report card. Green Bay would be included.
Some Senate Republicans don't like the governor's budget proposal, and Walker says he's willing to look at alternatives. But he says he's not willing to back down from his belief that all students should have access to a great education.
Bishop David Ricken of the Green Bay Catholic Diocese says the proposal is all about parents being able to make the best choice for their kids, and putting faith and values first.
The Green Bay school board also held a meeting last night, and members let people weigh in on the voucher plan.
