Over 10% of school districts get less revenue
A non-partisan group says it has an idea why some Republican lawmakers oppose Governor Walker's plan to freeze revenue limits for public schools.
Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance researcher Dale Knapp says a study of school district revenues found that 49 of the state's 424 districts received less money during the current school year, than a decade ago. He says two-thirds of them are in Republican-controlled Senate districts.
Knapp says most of the districts with less revenue have declining enrollment numbers, and cuts in the last state budget made the problem worse.
