DOT studying Hwy. 32 in De Pere
Two busy streets in downtown De Pere will be redone
in the coming years, and the department of transportation is considering some options for traffic flow.
As a part of Highway 32, Main Avenue and Reid Street are one-way roads, and planning project manager Chris Culotta says there are five possibilities. One of the options would turn Main and Reid into two-way streets. Another calls for the current one-way setup, but with a single lane that runs in the opposite direction, for local traffic.
Culotta says the current road needs to be replaced because some of the pavement on Main Avenue is 60 years old.
Culotta says right now, the project isn't in the DOT's six-year plan that runs through 2018.
The agency held a public meeting last night to show off the five options.
