Businesses to follow Hwy. 32 work

Businesses in downtown De Pere will be paying close attention to the state's plans to rebuild Main Avenue, and Reid Street in the coming years.

The department of transportation has five design options for the stretch of Highway 32, and village administrator Larry Belo says they want to make sure the project enhances the downtown. He says it should help existing businesses, and spur redevelopment.

Belo says there's a significant amount of parking in the downtown, and they want to keep the number of lost on-street spots to a minimum.

The project isn't in the DOT's current six-year plan that runs through 2018.
