Wiener Night!

Friday, Aug, 22 2014

There were wieners everywhere, and quite FRANKly, I was RELISHing every moment last night at the Red Ox Seafood and Steakhouse in Appleton.

It was my first "Wiener Night" ever there, a tradition that has dated back for three whole years.

Even Mrs. Biggest Name enjoyed herself, no small task considering the fact that, well, let's just say she doesn't appreciate the glorious frankfurter at the level that I do.

There were wieners of all types, sizes and flavors there.

I myself put down four and a half, with toppings ranging from salsa to chili to kraut, and wrappings from chipotle to biscuits.

I met some great new people too, but they all seemed to have rather odd names on their event nametags. That Seymour Wiener fella at the bar was a hoot.

Super Bowl News

Thursday, Aug, 21 2014

We all know that the Green Bay Packers will be playing in the Super Bowl come February!

By the way, it's back to a warm-weather location, the way it should be every year, in 2015, held in Phoenix on Feb.1.

Today on the PhilCast I have a story about the halftime show, and how the NFL wants to change things up when it comes to the entertainment we will see during the biggest sporting event of the year.

Brewers and PhilCast

Wednesday, Aug, 20 2014

The Milwaukee Brewers are in action Wednesday afternoon on WHBY. Then we'll follow the game with a shortened PhilCast show, starting somewhere around 4:15-4:30-ish.

Go CREW.

Meantime, the funniest thing of the day to me?
Two words;

Pardo's voice silenced at 96

Tuesday, Aug, 19 2014

One of the most-recognizable voices ever has been silenced.

Don Pardo passed away Monday at the age of 96.

I'll always hear him saying,
"It's Saturday Night Lllllliiiiiiive" on my TV, but there was Jeopardy and scores of other shows he voiced as well.

He started his radio career in 1938!

Suddenly when I say I started my radio career in 1978 that doesn't seem so old.

Gee Wally, why'd ya go and do that?

Monday, Aug, 18 2014

Wally here must have had a bad taste in his mouth after he licked a lady who came into the giraffe enclosure at the Madison zoo over the weekend.

Things started well enough when the thing licked her, but then he kicked her in the face.

The woman was not only seriously injured, but ticketed as well, since it's pretty obvious she had no business being in there in the first place.

Why did she do it?

She says she really likes giraffes.

Apparently the feeling wasn't mutual as she got the old licked & kicked treatment for sticking her nose where it didn't belong.

This and other stories including a new app for moms that forces the kids to call you back....and the mom who was busted for using the F-word at the grocery store.
