A new week

Monday, Jul, 23 2012

Off to the start of a new week with the same old heat it appears.
On the Monday show we'll kick off our week long reports from AirVenture live with the newsroom at the EAA. Each PhilCast this week will start off with a live report from there.

"Howz Yer Weekend?" in the 3:00 hour today also. Mine was relaxing and pretty good overall. I'll tell you why. Call in and share something from your weekend. Anybody do the Appleton Old Car Show that can give me a report?

At 4:30-ish we wrap up the Tour de France with a final recap and award the prizes to the Pick the Podium contest winners too.

Gonna Fly Now

Friday, Jul, 20 2012

Coming up on the Friday show among all our regular features we'll be getting an EAA AirVenture update live.

And after hearing all about what is coming up at this year's annual fly-fest I'll be giving a couple of PhilCast Family members a chance to win a family four-pack of tickets that includes a parking pass too.

We'll have some fun as they earn the tickets by taking my PhilCast Flying Quiz....just one question that the winners will have to answer correctly.

Then listen all next week as we feature live reports from the news department at AirVenture.

Those reports will open the PhilCast all next week.

Also on the Friday show...
--Trying to save the tennis courts in Appleton
--"Chadoin' This Weekend?"
--ReciPIPPA the Week

Happy Weekend!

Panhandling for better boobs

Thursday, Jul, 19 2012

Hey we're finally back to a full PhilCast on Thursday. After being away in London, Lips LaBelle will join me at 4:30-ish to talk about his trip and then his Hollywood news and gossip after that.

The Tour de France update will be moved up to 4:20 today so we're ready for Lips, who sent me this photo from his garden tour trip to London. Flowers and bikes I guess.
He'll have the scoop today.

I think he has some Charlie Sheen news too.

Also on the Thursday show...

She's a panhandler in Ohio that has garnered international attention this week.

Why?

She's panhandling to raise money for a boob job.

That's unique.
I can see the need, but the method has a lot of people up in arms.

My take when we discuss this afternoon on the showgrum.

Plans of mice and broadcasters

Tuesday, Jul, 17 2012

Over 30 years as a broadcaster. You think you've seen it all. Nope. Here's the scoop on WI Farm Tech Days and the live PhilCast that wasn't Tuesday.

Once this sky moved in we thought there might be issues with us having set up a complete studio outside under a tent. That's because the tent felt like it was about to blow away at times when this blew in.

I had driven all the way to New London from Milwaukee Tuesday morning and spent a couple of very HOT hours getting the lay of the land along with a couple of recorded interviews.

At least I scored a PhilCast exclusive one-on-one with Governor Scott Walker which was pretty funny.

We had about a half-dozen guests lined up to join me live from 3-5 from there Tuesday. In fact when the voice came on the loudspeaker announcing that due to weather the grounds needed to be evacuated immediately I was sitting there talking to one of the owners of the land this monster of a show is being held on. He said to me, "Well, I guess the interview is canceled." Yup.

Two golf cart rides and a bus ride later I got to my parked car and joined the mass exit...only to have to drive through a driving rain at times as I headed back to the radio station in Appleton.

Turns out not eating a thing all day (not a thing) left me really hungry too. At 7:00-ish I finally sat down to eat....TWICE. I'll tell the story on the show today after the Brewers' game on WHBY.

What a Tuesday it was!

Farmer Phil

Tuesday, Jul, 17 2012

Wisconsin Farm Technology Days opens today near New London and I'll be down on the farm as Farmer Phil all day long.

The PhilCast will be broadcasting live from the WHBY booth near the media tent area....about in the middle of the whole shootin' match. Stop over and say hi if there. And listen today to hear all sorts of interviews and chat related to all things farming from 3-5.
