Suspended for making a finger gun

This is what he did.
A six-year-old boy in Maryland was suspended from school because he made this gesture to another kid.

Somehow this rings of insane to me. Suspended?

Yet in the bigger picture, I guess it's mostly sad to me. It's sad to think that something this simple done by a little boy at school could lead to such a serious reaction. Sad to me that maybe, just maybe we've gotten to the point in our society where things like this once innocent gesture now need to be taken seriously.
