Enough with the flu shot video

It's officially here and it's a bad one this year; Flu season has arrived.

We'll talk about how bad it is in the Fox Valley on the PhilCast today when he have a local expert on the subject on the show.

Meantime, one of my many pet peeves with TV news is the always-present video of people (and in some cases little kids screaming) getting a flu shot.

I know what a flu shot looks like.

I neither need nor want to repeatedly see people getting stuck with a big needle on the TV every time a station does a story about the flu season.

There, I got that off my chest.

And no, I never get a flu shot. And no, I'm not worried about a jinx on the subject now.
I bet you get a chuckle tonight when TV news does this story, complete with video of the dreaded needle being sunk into someone's flesh.

It's "Weigh-In Wednesday"

It has been one full week of detox for me, bringing us to the very first "Weigh-In Wednesday" report on the PhilCast.

I made the ReciPIPPA the Week

After Pack Yak from 3-4 today with Rich Ratay, "Howz Yer Weekend" leads off the 4-5 hour of the PhilCast.

Part of my weekend was making the 'ReciPIPPA the Week' from Pippa on Friday.

Here are the slo-cooker stuffed chicken rolls ready to come out of the pot.

There's a little prep work to get everything ready, but the payoff was a great smell throughout the house while we were taking down the Christmas tree on Sunday.

Here is my plate. Ham and Swiss melted inside that seasoned chicken breast was all very tasty.

Now I admit, I had three of these bad boys. But to my credit, since we are after all now in "Weigh-In-Wednesday" time of year, the only side dish I had was a fresh salad.

Today on the PhilCast we'll talk about this goofy thing that actually gives humans a tail that wags based on how you're feeling.

Yup...
It's wired right to you.

You're happy....you like someone....it picks up on that and starts to wag. That guy you meet at a bar is more annoying than interesting? He'll get a clue right away because your tail wouldn't be wagging with joy.

You can't make this stuff up.
