Celebrity death clock ticking again

Friday, Jan, 17 2014

Here's how I remember him from a TV show I loved to watch when I was younger....sort of a swashbuckling, hip bachelor dude who managed the Partridge Family.

"Mr. Kincaid" has died.

Dave Madden is his real name, but I can still see him talking to Shirley Partridge on the show, acting as a manager/fill-in father figure for the kids in the band.

I watched that show every week and secretly wanted to be as cool and popular as the David Cassidy character.

Madden died at the age of 82 Thursday, the same day we lost the professor from Gilligan's Island.

They come in 3's.

Who's next?
Tick, tick, tick....

Oscar nominations PhilCast style

Thursday, Jan, 16 2014

The 2014 Oscar nominations were announced this morning and as per usual, I have not seen a single movie nominated for pretty much anything.

I WILL however be watching the ceremony come March (late this year due to the Olympics).

I will also be covering the nomination story today with a guy who knows a thing or two about movies.

Reviewer and my brother in broadcasting Mark Reardon from KMOX in St. Louis will join me on the PhilCast Thursday afternoon at 4:30-ish to give me his take on all this.

Always fun to talk to Mark. Now there's a guy who knows movies.

Frank Caliendo back on the PhilCast

Tuesday, Jan, 14 2014

One of my favorite funny guys, Frank Caliendo joins me on the PhilCast Wednesday right after the 4:30 news.

A Wisconsin guy, Frank has always made me laugh with his impressions and we've always had fun in past interviews.

I'm looking forward to our chat. He's doing a lot of new characters these days at his ESPN gig.
My all-time favorite though remains his Madden, which he doesn't do much any more. Maybe during the interview I'll have to ask what coach Madden is up to these days in retirement.

Frank will be in Green Bay next Friday the 24th at the Weidner Center. More info/tix, click here.

Best dressed at the 'Globes'

Monday, Jan, 13 2014

The Golden Globes last night came off as kind of a hot mess. There were lots of mistakes and no shortage of rather odd speeches.

But one of the reasons we like to watch at our house is for the fashion.

My pick for best dressed last night was this Ralph Lauren red number complete with chic cape, which is very IN I guess.

That's one of the stars of the movie '12 Years a Slave', Lupita Nyong'o.

Classy and stunning.

This picture makes the dress look a little less red and a little more orange, but if you watched you know it was as red as red can be.

Tonight there will e a special Globes edition of 'Fashion Police' on TV.

We'll see what Joan Rivers and company pick as their best and worst dressed.

Although I am not sure why I am at all interested in the opinion of a woman with purple hair and a ton of tattoos....yes, I'm talking to you Kelly Osbourne.

When it comes to worst dressed of the night I have plenty to work with...

--Julia Roberts looked like she had a white shirt tucked into a black dress on top.

--Jennifer Lawrence looked like she was stuffed into a white barrel with black straps.

--Sandra Bullock's dress looked like she couldn't make up her mind so they sewed three together.

--And then there's my winner, thee worst dressed at the Globes is....
Lena Dunham, a banana gone bad on the red carpet.
