Welcome newest member of PhilCast team

Tuesday, Feb, 11 2014

I've been teasing it over on Twitter for a while now, and since you are enough of a fan of the PhilCast to be checking my blog I'll release the news here first.

Today on the Tuesday PhilCast we begin a new daily segment that will air right after the 3:30 news update.

Welcome Erin Davisson of WFRV Channel 5.

Every afternoon we'll take a few minutes to chat about what's up with Erin and what's up in the news at Channel 5 for that night.

It's your chance to get to know the person behind the 'news anchor' you watch on the tube (which now of course is an outdated term. Just like when people say 'don't touch that dial.' What dial?)

Erin 'gets it'. I know that because I know she listens to the PhilCast when she can. That's why I'm excited to be adding her to our daily lineup. Buckle up...it could be a bumpy ride at times. But I'm sure you are up to the task Erin....I mean....you sit next to Zalaski every night.

Here we go.....

Dog Show!

Sunday, Feb, 9 2014

Move over Winter Olympics because it's time for the dog show.
Yup, it's Westminster time again, when Madison Square Garden goes to the dogs.

Monday and Tuesday night will find me right in front of the TV watching this annual event.

I'll be talking about a Wisconsin connection too.

That's Petey with handler Kevin Gasper of Oconomowoc. Petey is one of two dogs owned by Juneau Wisconsin's Linda Blaser.

Her breed is the Field Spaniel.

What great looking dogs. If I had a field to let them run in I'd have one.

She's my latest TV obsession

Friday, Feb, 7 2014

I've got a story coming up on the Friday PhilCast about what's called house flipping, where people buy houses on the cheap, make improvements and then sell for a quick profit.

Cable TV is LOADED with these shows. And my latest obsession is this little fireball, Nicole Curtis.

She focuses on old, character homes that are about to be torn down.

She not only rehabs them, but pays special attention to maintaining the original charm of the places, saving as much 'old' material for reuse as possible.

A) I like that

B) I learn about old houses by watching. (I own one and need to learn!)
((Nicole, can you come to the Fox Valley to help with our house?))

C) Her personality and energy are great.

D) Her boobs seem to take on a life of their own, since she insists on wearing low-cut tank tops most of the time she's sawing, painting, pulling down walls....whatever.

Sandy and I both laugh at some of the TV shots of her that no-doubt play up the fact that she's putting on a show in more ways than one!

Her show is called Rehab Addict. (Thursday nights)
She's on both HGTV and DIY Network.
