Hydrangeas rock

Wednesday, Jul, 17 2013

PhilCast friend Van Zeeland's in Little Chute sent me a few pictures of hydrangeas they have in stock there.

I love these things. I think it has something to do with childhood memories when my grandma's yard always seemed to have these 'snowball bushes' in bloom.

Having just moved into our new house I have been thinking about what to do with a side yard area that need some landscaping and a plan down the road.

I was just thinking about wanting to somehow include hydrangeas in the plan when Joe from Van Zeeland's sent me these pics.

Seems like my timing might be just right. The white ones are 'old school' to me and I'm all about old school. I've seen more and more of the ones with the blue tint...and now...how about these?! Almost a purple color.

Hydrangea time at Van Zeeland's Nursery in the "LC".

Too hot or too cold?

Wednesday, Jul, 17 2013

It's all everyone is talking about. It's hot. Really hot.

As long as I have AC to escape to at night to get some sleep I'm good with the heat.

In that age-old argument about too hot or too cold, I'll always take too hot over the  cold. I'm just not a winter guy.

Sure, I'd like it to be less extreme in Wisconsin, but I can't afford to live in San Diego where it's in the 70's all the time.

Besides, I do enjoy the change of seasons in Wisconsin and would miss that. Fall brings out the sweaters after the heat of summer breaks, and spring brings the promise of sun and warmth after a long, cold winter. Of the two, I just prefer no snow and warm temps.

Having said that, this humidity is rough. And what's even rougher is the fact that our studio needs some cooling updates because we have no air in there. And when it gets this hot outside the inside is no day at the beach either. The good news is that after spending over three hours a day in there Reggie and I have been losing weight just sweating it off in there. Maybe this is some sort of twisted company health plan.

It worked for Dave Mathews...

Tuesday, Jul, 16 2013

...why not me?

I had to laugh today when I heard that the very thing that happened to me on a bike yesterday happened to Dave Mathews too, only with different results.

He had a flat tire while out riding his bike and a lady randomly pulled over to help him out with a ride, not knowing who it was at the time she pulled over.

Now why didn't my associate producer Peel do the same thing for me when he saw me roadside with a flat tire yesterday?

We'll hear from the Dave and the lady involved on the PhilCast this afternoon.

You listening Peel?

Back in the saddle

Monday, Jul, 15 2013

...and when I say 'saddle' I do NOT mean my bike saddle, which, in a way, is very sad to me. No time to be on my bike what with moving, unpacking and cleaning as I go at the new house in the Fox Valley. It's been a lot of hard work and it's not over yet. But I HAVE at least had some time in the evenings (thanks to my new DVR) to watch some of the Tour de France, which I will be talking about today.

THIS guy is leading, and it just so happens he was my pick to win it all at the start of Le Tour, which ends this Sunday in Paris.

But there are some shadows about the leader, although they are not fault of his own.

I'll discuss today on the show, as well as share a few stories about the big move.

Talk to you at 3-ish.
