Bubble (wrap) burst?

Monday, Jul, 6 2015

Could it be that this time-honored tradition is falling by the wayside?

Who doesn't love to pop bubble wrap?

Long after the ting inside the box that was shipped to you has worn out, the joy of popping bubble wrap lives on.

But Monday I've got the story of the new high-tech bubble wrap the company that makes the stuff says does NOT pop.

Oh dear.

4th of July

Friday, Jul, 3 2015

Happy 4th of July Friday PhilCast show, as we take some time off on the legal holiday day.

I'll be back at it on Monday afternoon, that is, IF I survive being poked and prodded at the doctor's office on Monday morning. Yes, I finally got myself a doctor in the Valley and will be getting a checkup.

Expect horror stories to open the Monday show.

The Final Frontiersman

Thursday, Jul, 2 2015

I really enjoyed interviewing Heimo on the Wednesday show.
As promised, here is more info about the book that was the inspiration for the TV series on Animal Planet.

CLICK HERE to link to more info about his book at Amazon.

If you missed the extended interview with him in Alaska, including his outstanding moose call live on the show, make sure to check it out at the PhilCast podcast page. It's listed in the 4-5 hour of the Wednesday, July 1 show.

The Last Alaskans

Wednesday, Jul, 1 2015

Appleton native Heimo Korth, one of the stars of the hit reality show "The Last Alaskans" on Animal Planet will be on the PhilCast at 4:30-ish today.

I'm now hooked on the show, and I'm not quite sure why. When you think about it, there isn't much to watch.

One episode was mostly following around a couple of guys in the woods trying to hunt down an animal to kill for food....with no success I might add.
Not exactly griping content.

But the scenery is wonderful and there is an attraction to the craziness of the lifestyle out there in the middle of nothing.

For instance, how Heimo was so excited to be washing out the stomach of a caribou in a river so that he could munch on it raw as a tasty snack. I'll ask him about that today, and he better not tell me it 'tastes like chicken' either.

New at the airport

Tuesday, Jun, 30 2015

We all know what a pain it can be these days when flying.

But I stumbled across an article that lays out a few new trends at the airlines.

And guess what?

There are actually a couple of things on the list that make sense for air travelers.

I'll go over the list on the Tuesday PhilCast.

Not surprisingly though, several of these services come with a cost.
