In the bag

Thursday, May, 24 2012

It's an age-old question that is no longer valid in one of the biggest cities in this country; "Paper or Plastic?"

Los Angeles has banned plastic grocery bags and will start charging for paper.

BYOB I guess.

What do you think? What do you use?

I'll be putting my two-cents worth in on the topic in the first hour of the PhilCast today and invite your comments via phone calls or you can post your thoughts on the PhilCast Facebook fan page.

Also today after the 4:30 news we'll do the usual Hollywood news and gossip segment, although Lips is off today and listener "Emily the Library Whatever" has won the audition to fill in for Lips today.

Tiny Tim

Wednesday, May, 23 2012

I mentioned on the Tuesday PhilCast that the most-watched Johnny Carson episode ever was the one where Tiny Tim got married live on the show.

I also mentioned that I remembered having an old photo of me and Tiny Tim from a morning show interview I did with him in the studio.

Well, it's a photo of an old photo but it's all I've got for you...

I can almost still smell him. If you missed the PhilCast when I talked about this meeting then go listen to the podcast version to find out what he smelled the studio up with back on this morning in 1992 when I did the interview. (Listen to the section labeled 'Johnny Carson reflection")

The girls in orange

Tuesday, May, 22 2012

Question: Who are these girls in orange and why are they pictured here?
The answer is because they are part of one of the stories coming up on the Tuesday PhilCast.

You'll see...or make that...you'll HEAR about it this afternoon.

Also, I have posted the following show information on both my Twitter feed and the Facebook pages of myself and the show... Lips LaBelle is off this Thursday, meaning no Hollywood news and gossip segment. Or will there be one?

My idea?

I am now taking audio applications from listeners interested in doing it this Thursday at 4:30-ish over the phone with me. If you'd like to give it a try just email me a short mp3 sample that we can play on the show. If we get any I will choose from the application samples that come in. Winner will get the chance to do the Hollywood report with me this Thursday...and we'll throw in some PC gear for you too.

Just email me an mp3. Or if you can't do that, just call my voice mail and leave your audio application there for me. 920-831-5642 (you know I just had to look up my own phone number, right?!)

"Howz Yer Weekend?"

Monday, May, 21 2012

So "Howz Yer Weekend?"
Time to talk weekend on the PhilCast this Monday. Please call in and chat about yours and then I'll tell you about mine, which included not only putting our boat in, but actually USING it! The old 1968 Crestliner fired up and ran so good we were able to take Handy Andy on his first-ever tube adventure.

The only problem was that the sly dog out-foxed me. As he grew more confident with himself back there my plan was of course to nail it and dump him right in front of the people watching at our place. He jumped tube before I could ever do it. Smart guy...knows me too well I guess.

Call 281-1150 or toll free on the Red Ox PhilPhone at 1-866-887-1150 to chat about YOUR weekend.

RAINing on Friday PhilCast

Friday, May, 18 2012

The drummer with the internationally-known Beatles tribute band RAIN who has Wisconsin ties will join me on the PhilCast today in the first hour.
I saw these guys earlier this spring when they played Milwaukee and it was a fantastic show.

If you like the Beatles at all I would suggest getting to the PAC in Appleton for a show. They're doing three, one Friday night and two on Saturday.

The cool thing about the concert is that RAIN both sounds and LOOKS just like the Beatles, and they walk through the various stages of the legendary band, from Ed Sullivan video clips to feeling like you are at Shea Stadium's concert, to the psychedelic Beatles when they perform songs the Beatles never did live. In fact, RAIN has been together longer than the actual Beatles. It should be a fun interview and a solid concert to attend.

Have a great weekend....and don't forget to call in during the 4:00 hour to share "Chadoin' This Weekend?" plans...promote events taking place this weekend...let us know what's up with the PC Family this weekend. And if you can't call in live just post a note on the PhilCast Facebook Fan Page.
